General Information

Wheelchair user thirsty of adrenaline? Then this is the right place for you. Thriving mountains, deep valleys and all the outdoor activities you couldn’t even imagine you can do at all… Yes, you can! All of the activities were tested by us and are 100% barrier free for disabled people. A full day of action, combined with beautiful vistas that ends with some locally produced specialties for dinner. We call it a day to die for! You can have 8 of those.

1. Day:

Pick up from Ljubljana airport and transfer to your hotel. In late afternoon or evening we do a 2-hours guided tour of Ljubljana, a city which in 2015 got a Bronze Access City Award and Silver Access City Award in 2018. We take a look around the city center that was highly denoted by a Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik and take the funicular to Ljubljana Castle.

2. Day:

From Ljubljana we drive to the east. Our stop is Velenje, a city that is for centuries known for mining. A part of the mine which is still supplying the nearby power plant is converted into museum, open for public and accessible for wheelchair users. We take the opportunity to descend deep below the ground and see how miners worked there in the past and now. After enjoying a traditional miner’s snack in the darkness of the cave we drive to Upper Savinja Valley. We take the cable-car to one of Slovenian ski resorts Golte and spend the night high in the mountains.

3. Day:

From Golte we return back to the valley and visit Logarska Valley, one of the most beautiful glacier valleys in Europe. After lunch with some local specialties in Logarska Valley we take the opportunity to walk along the trail of which one part is accessible for wheelchair users. On the way back we drive through along a windy road through Austria to Jezersko and on to Bohinj. We spend the night in a picturesque setting not far from Bohinj lake, which is already a part of the largest national park in Slovenia.

4. Day:

We discover part of the beauties and activities that Slovenian Alpine region can offer us. We start enjoying views of our biggest natural lake which is already part of Triglav National Park: Lake Bohinj. The lake is situated between some of the highest mountains of Slovenia. As view is always a good idea, we take the cable car up to a winter ski resort Vogel, 1625 meters above the sea level. From here we get the best possible view of Triglav, a national pride as our highest mountain and a picturesque lake far below us. Afternoon is reserved for outdoor activities. We rent canoes and go for a romantic rowing on the lake. Before going to bed a giant swing will put some adrenaline to our blood. All for a good sleep…

5. Day:

For Slovenians (as well as foreign tourists) one of the most popular places for spending a day off is Bled. With its island with church and medieval castle on the rock above the lake you can simply imagine you are in a fairy tale. After short stroll around part of the lake we will have great chance to try Bled famous cream cake »kremšnita« (Bled Vanilla Cream Slice). We drive deeper into the mountains to Planica. It is famous as the biggest Ski Flying facility in the world. Every year in March the valley is full of visitors of the Ski Flying World Cup Finals. We don’t do the ski flying. We only take the chairlift to the top of the hill and come down with a zip-line – at least we can get a part of the feeling that ski fliers have. Overnight in Kranjska Gora, one of the biggest ski resorts in Slovenia.

6. Day:

On this day we change the climate from Alpine to Mediterranean. From Kranjska Gora we take the windy road up to 1611 meter above sea level. The road was constructed during the First World War by Russian prisoners and connects Sava Valley in the north to Soča Valley in the south. After a short stop for beautiful views at the top of Vršič Pass we descend to river Soča. River is popular for rafting and other activities and it is believed that this is one of the most stunning rivers in Europe. The great green color of its waters will accompany us most of the day. On the way we see Boka waterfall, with its 106 meters of free fall the fifth highest waterfall in Slovenia. On the Soča river we do some fishing with the help of the professional guides, while at the same time enjoy the lunch near the river. We continue to the south and finally reach the seaside, where we spend the last two nights of our trip.

7. Day:

Finally, some time to rest and relax in the Mediterranean climate. We take a short boat ride along Slovenian coast with a visit of Izola. Izola is one of the three cities along Slovenian coast and has the true Adriatic charm. Afternoon is off for swimming, sunbathing or just enjoying superb seafood in one of the restaurants along the coastal line.
