For the third time in last eight years our capital Ljubljana became a winner of the Access City Award! On the ceremony which took place in the end of November, Ljubljana won a bronze Access City Award for 2023 awarded by the European commission!
For the 2023 Access city awards 43 cities from all around Europe applied during the course of the year. Only six managed to got into the finals, Ljubljana was one of them. Golden Access city award for 2023 goes to the Swedish city of Skellefteå, while silver and second place went to Spanish city of Cordoba. As written above Ljubljana finished third and also received a cash prize of 80.000 euros to continue improving the accessibility for the disabled in the municipality. Other finalist of the Access city awards 2023 were Grenoble, Hamburg, Merida. These cities received a special mention for their efforts in becoming more accessible: Hamburg (Germany), for its built environment; Grenoble (France), for its transport network; and Mérida (Spain), for its information and communication technologies.
